Radio show classic
Radio show Classic music
For classic music my target audience was from around 30+ both male and female. For my sequence I chose old and new classical music with a mixture of both male and female artists. The strengths are that it flows in really well the cross fades also the tunes sound good together. It meets the need of the target audience because the music is not to new they are quite old for example Michael Jackson Billie Jean is an old song but today still very popular and people enjoy listening to it.The purpose of doing this kind of gives you and idea as to how radio shows organize their playlists.

For my radio show my target audience was teenagers from around 14+ so I chose Urban and Hip Hop music. The strengths for my music is that layout and the song choice is good also I cross faded the music so that when one tune finishes the next will play in a split second. However on the other hand the weakness is the song choices because 4 of the songs are all female artists and 1 at the end is a male. I think I should have had a mixture because this may effect my audience because boys may want to listen to rap etc. It does meet the needs of the target audience because the songs are Urban and Hip Hop which is based for the teenage target audience. I think the purpose of the student radio show has helped me understand more about radio I did not know how to cross fade but now its so easy. Also in a way it helps you understand more about what audience like what music.

Music formatting for older people
I have learnt a lot aboutthe older target audience they listen to very classic music unlike teenagers. To play music for older people can be very hard on a radio because you need to know if they're going to like it. Also I learnt that you should put your music in to charts for example A,B,and C thi way ou can put your popuar music in playist A so you know they're your popularsongs.

Urban and Hip Hop music based programming for teenagers.
Teenagers love listening to people who nspire them such as young artists and bands one I thing I have learnt about teenagers is that they dont like to listen to music that is old everyday they find something new. Teenagers love to be updated on their favourite artists. lso aswell as older people and younger people life is so much easier when you put your music in to playlists keep your popular ones in paylist A and least popular in Playist C.

The poster above shows the format, station and artist.
We were given a format and had to match it up with a station then research the station and write down two of their tracks out of their playlist.
EXAMPLE
FORMAT- Urban Hip Hop STATION- BBC1Xtra ARTIST- 50 cent, flo rida and Kanye west. Songs on the playlist Flo rida Whistle.
I have learnt that the formats are set in different catogeries to make things so much easier. For example you would not put classic with Kanye west I learnt what artists go with what genres and what stations.
What is music programming for radio?
Radio programming is the Broadcast programming of a Radio format or content that ... included a balance of music.
What is a stations music format?
Music format describes the overall content broadcast on a radio station.
Please give an example of two radio stations, the format and an example of 2 tracks.
Kiss- RNB- Hip-Hop example Rihanna Diamonds and Rita Ora Shine your light.Contempory Hip Hop example David Guetta She Wold and Amelia Lily you bring me joy.
What is an ABC playlist?
The list puts the latest music in for example A list might be played more than the c list.
Explain how the choice of music would affect profits of a commercial radio station?
If a station plays 1 track over and over again people will get bored and fed up also they need to play music that is popular and out there so that people know. Comercial's would want to advertise on radio station that are popular and if the radio station is not the comercials wont make money.
Explain some techniques in music programming to keep the listener interested with examples?
You need to play new music every now and again you need to have good tone of voice keep the audience intrested update them on the latest news. You also need to start bright and finish strong this means you need to keep the audience interested from start to finish. Tuesday, 25 September 2012
My poster was based on the Radio Producer.
I had to list and explain the job role and the qualities for example. How many hours a radio producer works, their salary and qualifications etc.
BBC-Radio 1Xtra
The station format : They talk about the news (news beat), world news everything, mainly they play music.
